Once the ewe follows its lamb into the barn, the two are place in one of these pens to further bond and allow the lamb to begin nursing. In this herd there are both single births and several twins, but no triplets so far this year.
I take it the sheep aren't concerned to be so close with their new offspring. It was a good year. What do they do with their sheep? Are they raised for meat, for fiber, for both?
@randystreat Thanks, Kathy! The moms and lambs are in those small areas for just a few days then moved to a larger area still in the barn. There are coyotes close by! This farm raise mostly for meat and sell locally. It is difficult to find folks to sheer them and the wool is worth very little.
