What I'm doing these days...

We have two very large Live Oak trees in our yard. One in the front and the oldest and biggest one in the backyard, which has always been called, "God's Tree". That is the tree I'm standing beneath. Live Oak leaves fall in the spring, so I'm raking them now! : - )
Lots of leaves. Nice patterns and light.

Having the same fun! Top leaves fell late winter, but the bottom are still hanging on - I'll be raking forever!

Wow… I had no idea that the live oaks lost their leaves in the spring… lovely leaves and nice to see your shoes to give perspective.

How extraordinary to see the leaves dropping in the Spring…..perhaps it’s a bit like a copper beech hedge….they loose their leaves in the Spring just as the new buds start to fatten.

@shutterbug49 No, it is Spring! These Live Oak leaves remain green and on the tree until Spring, then fall off as the new leaves emerge.

@ljmanning Thank you, Laura! I had to wait until the sun shone, since there were lots of clouds.

@kvphoto Yes, they remain green all winter and fall as the new leaves emerge. They only turn color when they are off the tree.
