I accidentally spilled a concerning amount of Cola on it... Lol so we "put it to dry" and hope for the best

Ouch! Take care of the acid in cola! That may give you trouble much later, even when after drying everything seems to be OK. Maybe better take out all batteries (including the backup battery!) and then rinse with clean water before drying. But maybe better leave this to a specialist

@hjv Thank you for the advice, this is very helpful! I hope it can still be recovered, otherwise I bought a really expencive bottle of Cola that day!
