Hmm Picasa isn't that grand. I just wondered cos I have been preparing prints and I use canons own software and you can pic the aspect ratio you need so cropped pictures don't get cropped by the printers. This picture would probably lose the ends if say you wanted a six by four.
No I refuse to spend that much money on software when a combination of free software does everything I need. If I were professional and could write it off as a business cost I still wouldn't use that, The only expensive software I would buy is Silver efex because its unmatched for B&W. I use GIMP and ufRaw but only when I can't do what I need in Canons own software and this is not very often. The only other software I use on a regular basis is called Myphotoindex and its a great bit of organising software that enables you to add un-deletable and hidden data in your jpeg files. With the advance of peoples skills I feel this is needed as people are happy to slice watermarks out of a picture these days. It also lets you add tags either individually or in batch process and the more pictures you store the more useful this becomes in finding stuff later on.
