Dale Abby

photo 219
Just down the road from us is a place called Dale Abby and the story goes, In the 12th Century a baker from Derby had a vision of the Virgin Mary and was told to live in Depedale (the old word for Dale) and go worship God in solitude. This started a religious worship in Dale, now known as Dale Abby. The only part of the Abby left is the east window. BEST VIEWED LARGE.

I love this Tony - the sky creates a wonderful backdrop to contrast the brickwork and arch.

Interesting story and a very good shot! I also like to take shots of old remnants but nowadays there are only new remnants in our country...
