Spotted along the Gunflint Trail. Did not get too close for they are big and did not want to spook or upset it. Minnesota's moose population is declining and is in trouble. Over the past decade the herd has dropped around 60%. Lots of theories but no agreement; climate change, wolves, winter ticks, brain-worms ! If you look closely you will see where the fur is splotchy in
the hind quarters. Maybe rubbing against trees to satisfy an ich, maybe to get rid of ticks maybe...
