Hydro Electric Turbine 1924 - 1994

This is a massive Cast Iron Turbine weighing 15 tons. It rotated at 100 rpm and produced 4,500 Horsepower. The Ford Motor Company installed 4 Turbines at the Ford Dam in St Paul, Minnesota (1924)
to provide electricity for their car/truck factory. This water driven turbine saw 70 years of service and produced over 1,341,776,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. It offset the burning of 286,000 tons of coal and avoided 470,000 pounds of particulates, 4,589,000 pounds of sulphur dioxide and 5,340,000 pounds of nitrogen oxide. We need more renewable sources of energy and less coal, gas and carbon fuels. The earth will survive but will we and our children's children?!
