This photo is from my archives, but converted today from color to B & W using a DxO filmpack which was a free download. It was taken in 2012 camera date is wrong since I had never set date and time. This is one I had to hunt. Knew where he was making a home but he flew away every time I tried to approach, let alone raise a camera.
The day before I scouted found the spot I thought
would be the best. Then on the day I walked up dropped to the knee and shot. It was thrilling since
I had been denied for so long. He made the
nest/hole so large a few months later in a big blow the tree broke in half at his spacious home.
@laetitiapetrussa Thank You..this was really a fun capture and fun doing the conversion to B & W. Thank You so much for taking the time to look and comment
@vignouse He looks great in color, but I am more and more drawn to the simplicity of form, shapes, light, dark and shadow. I seem to feel a real pull towards b & w expression. Thanks Richard your comments are much appreciated!
Really nice capture! These guys are usually pretty wary. I got a shot of a pair, a few years ago, and was thrilled I was able to get as close to them as I was, and for a pretty good amount of time.
