Every time i drive past this huge hulking structure
dedicated to transforming low grade iron ore into
black taconite pellets I think of Antonioni's 1964 movie "Deserto Rosso" (Red Desert) , his first color film. When I was in graduate school every now and then the Janus Film festival series would
be showing some great foreign films. That was a
few years ago but our local library has the Red Desert on DVD so I have it reserved.
