When we arrived at the Whistle Stop there was just a few people eating at the Café. The gentlemen seated at the table was reading a book. Soon the place filled up with local people greeting each other and enjoying their food. I had two eggs over easy, sausage links, home fries and whole wheat toast; Pam had a 1/3 lb hamburger and a large serving of French fries. Total cost including tip was $20.00. No credit cards accepted, thank goodness pam had her check book! As we left the café, a train on the tracks across the road blew it's whistle.. A real slice of Americana We learned the woman serving us, with her back to us in the picture, had a collision with a deer. She asked the gentleman seated at the table for some advise.
I agree with Daweenie -- great story. I love the black & white (especially in contrast to the color photo of the front of the Whistle Stop) but I am curious about that cute tile work and what it looks like in color.
