To apologise for the snake yesterday, today I share an image of nurturing. Peeking up from behind the post, pleading for a treat from Mum, is a young pale-headed rosella. (Same species as uploaded 6th Feb).
I spotted a small band of rosellas feeding, quietly crept out to photograph them and realized juveniles had joined the group.
With much amusement I watched this young fellow trying to perfect balancing on a barbed wire fence to gather grass seeds for himself while Mum sat on a post and Dad forged on the ground both keeping a watchful eye on me.
After several wobbles and not much seed he gave up and flew over to Mum and began pleading for her help. She ignored his pleadings and led him down to feed on the ground with Dad, The intimate scene was shattered when our resident hawk floated overhead and the flock instantly took to the shelter of the trees.
