Snake Bird by ubobohobo

Snake Bird

A very comical bird is the darter. It seems to be able to twist and turn its long neck into any position. It's no wonder it has earnt the common name, snake bird. It swims very low in the water sometimes with only its head showing. As its feathers do not repel water, a lot of time is spent perched with wings hung out to dry.
These birds were perching up in the trees on the side of the lake and diving with loud plops into the water to catch fish which they swallowed whole. Then they swam to fallen logs, scrambed up to sit and dry out before flying back up into the trees to start the process all over again while keeping a wary eye on me as well.
Margaret, this is an excellent shot. I've never heard of these birds before and find this so interesting.
