Our not-for-profit organisation held a very successful Sausage Sizzle on Saturday at Bunnings Warehouse in Gladstone. Bunnings, a major Australian warehouse chain selling home improvement products, is a paradise for DIY home improvers.
Every weekend community groups are given the opportunity to sell a sausage on bread and a can of soft drink to customers as they enter the store. It is an amazing source of income for local service clubs and charities. We cooked and served seventy kilograms of sausages between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Internet research shows that activities such as this contributed to the $20 million that Bunnings contributed to community projects in 2010.
