From my kitchen window I lookout on to the cliffs of the Kroombit Tops National Park where Three Moon Creek rises 901m above sea level. This creek flows south from here through Cania Lake, past the tiny town of Monto and on down into the Burnett River to enters the sea at Bundaberg. The story goes that on a night like last night an early traveller who camped on the banks of this unnamed creek, saw three moons-one in the sky, one in the waters of the creek and one in the billy he'd filled with water. Consequently he named the creek Three Moon Creek the name it still bears today.
