These very noisy members of the parrot family are found all along the eastern coast of Australia. They love nectar and pollen. The gum blossoms are on the outmost branches on slender twigs but the birds can crawl all over the tree by using not only their feet but also their strong beaks to pull themselves around through the branches and to hold on as they move from flower to flower. They are often seen sitting in pairs in the gum trees preening each other. (In the bottom photo the bird is actually hanging upside down not viewed from above as it might appear.)
