Diospyros - Fire of Zeus

Yum, yum! Persimmon season has arrived and I'm having a feast - along with the flying foxes, parrots, crows, fig birds and whatever other fruit eating species agrees with the latin meaning for diospyros - "divine food"!!!
Also, I thought my 2 persimmon trees were old but they are just babies according to the Persimmons Australia web site. In Japan there is a 600 year old tree that still bears fruit!

For me, persimmon has only been a color until now. The meat of the fruit looks very juicy and delectable. :-)
