These are the most delightful bird commonly called the "Happy Family". They live and travel in family groups of up to fifteen chattering to each other all the while as they forage and hop about through the trees. They nest together at night in a tight bunch and every member of the family shares in the job of raising the young. Unfortunately, they are rapidly declining in numbers and are now a threatened species. They were prolific when I was young but now I rarely see a family group bigger than three. It is believed the loss of habitat has broken up the larger groupings and made it very difficult for families to raise young. This busy little sole was busily foraging for beetle larvae under the leaves in the lawn. When the image is opened a beetle larvae can be seen in its beak.
