Line Ends

I call this the old Town Hall but I’m showing my age! It was opened in 1934 and for nearly fifty years Gladstone residents enjoyed events as varied as flower shows and boxing matches, eisteddfods and weddings. Then a modern Entertainment Centre was built and the old hall was converted into a home for the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum. Today my friend and I enjoyed the opening day of the week long Curtis Coast Literary Carnivale. We attended adult writing and illustrating workshops conducted by four prominent Australian writers and illustrators of children’s books- Jackie French, Frances Watts, David Lette and Anne Spudvilas. A delightful way to spend a Sunday.
What a stunning building! Great colours, glad you can still have good times there! :)

Neat building. It looks great against the blue sky. Are you are writer. I love writing and illustrating myself and would love to attend workshop like that.

@vernabeth I am a writing teacher more than a writer myself. I believe writing is a craft and i can share the craft with others but don't get the same joy from my own writing as I do from the writing I can get others to produce.

@jan11 She was an amazing person to see "in the flesh" and it was a real inspiration to hear her speak about her craft.

Beautiful shot against that lovely blue sky; like the shadow of the palm on the wall, too. I love these old country buildings; so solid and such beautiful lines and curves.

@girlie Thanks Robyn. The photo looks a bit glarey to me but it was mid morning and I only had morning tea break to dash out and capture the lines I wanted...no time to wait for the right light.
