The scene on deck after the Captain announced we would not be going ashore on Easter Island. Overhead are the tenders. Once lowered into the water, they take passengers ashore in groups of 150. A big swell was making the little harbour too dangerous for this and after five days at sea and probably a life time of dreaming we were all stunned by the announcement. Looking at the gentle waves in front of us it was impossible to believe what we had heard. The disappointment was almost too much to bare.
Gosh what a shock - I think I'd be getting my cossie on and diving in... too close to be so far. What a shame, I do hope the alternative way of spending the day was worthwhile.
(p/s : the sea looks calm from the capture. Well, the captain knew better i guess)
