This newly fledged welcome swallow found the shade on our verandah a welcome retreat from the heat. The parents had made their nest in the roof of the barn with only a few inches between them and the hot tin roof. It must have been so hot. Thank goodness the two babies were big enough to fly and make their escape. They are usually too quick to photograph. So I was delighted to use their inexperience to my advantage.
@sangwann thanks for your lovely comment. Much appreciated. This was not such a good shot - from dark to light - that's why the grass has turned yellow in the midday light. I was hiding behind some washing hanging on a line and didn't have many choices.
