Ripe and Ready

The Carambola are ripe and ready for picking but viewed large you will see that the fruit fly also know this.They are the bane of our lives when it comes to fruit growing.

It is a star apple fruit in English; in the Philippine it is called "balimbing" - it means many sides (moniker for politician who keeps on moving to the winners' side).

Great close up. We say : er zijn altijd kapers op de kust. ( there are always pirate`s close to the coast = we`ve got plenty of competitors ) Now the fruit but never seen them grow and the bush/tree of it.

The fruit fly seems to be a problem worldwide. We have a big awareness campaign going in our valley.
