...and built to last! A section of a single disc horse drawn plough forged in the blacksmith’s shop of the H V McKay Sunshine factory in Victoria sometime around 1930. Hugh McKay designed and built his first wheat harvester when he was only 18 years of age in a tiny slab hut smithy. From these humble beginnings he went on to establish the Sunshine Harvester Works which at one time employed 3000 workers and occupied 76 acres of land. He became renown as the man who mechanised agriculture in Australia and the world.
As I begin my third year at 365project, I’m taking up jdMuli’s f-word2 challenge for February. Let’s see if I can last the distance. Thanks for stopping by.
@jan11 that's interesting Jan. The old metal seat has "buy Australian made H V MCKAY Sunshine" mounted written into it and oil mounded into the cap of the oil chamber. Was Sunshine a town or a suburb of Melbourne?
