...with chocolate dipped marshmallows - our centre piece for the tables at our Valentines Day dinner. Like many rural areas in Australia, our community is in the grip of drought. In the past twelve months our area has moved from drought to flood disaster and back to drought. The cattle market is flooded with stock and prices are down as inland properties run out of feed and water. Our monthly dinners are providing an opportunity for our community members to pull together in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere finding support in each other and releasing (or at least sharing) some of the tensions caused by the deteriorating weather conditions. Oh, by the way, as well as the marshmallows, we offered everyone a complimentary glass of wine and served three courses - prawn cocktail or chicken skewers with plum sauce for entrée; lamb shanks on a bed of mashed potatoes for main and rocky chock shots with strawberries and vanilla ice cream for dessert - and a great night was had by all. One of our guests gave all us volunteers a rose in thanks...a very special and surprise ending to the evening.
If more communities had members who took such time and effort to share a meal and conversation there may be fewer instances of depression in our rural areas.
So sorry to read the sad story of you weather condition. Hope for better times . Great pic. and it `s nice to read you all help each other. And having a great Valentine day
