Furtive Friend

The koala I found last month has settled in but chooses a new hide each morning high up in the foliage of the gum trees making it a very difficult task to find him each day. Today when we eventually found him he looked down sleepily then hid his eyes. I'm sure he said, "Oh, not you again. Get that camera off me and go! I want to sleep."
I think his recognizing you is good because he knows you are no threat, and so he will be easier to capture.

Thanks for giving me the bear facts, my Mother never gave me. A lovely capture Margaret.

@cejaanderson Now that is a good thought. His eye is getting no better. The wildlife carers are talking to the koala specialists about what to do next. So yes we may be doing something positive.

Good shot Margaret. I wouldn't bet on the idea that he is trusting you. May be more to do with his becoming less inclined to move around with his eye that way it is.

@terryliv No he is still looking fit healthy and must be quite active. He changes trees most nights. What I fear is trying to remove him from his tree. I see the size of his claws and the scratches on the bark where he climbs. Hope any helpers who arrive are well trained in koala handling.

It looks like you get to play hide and seek with a koala every day. How exciting! I hope something can be done for his eye.

@ubobohobo Yeah they are very difficult to handle. Definitely don't try it on your own.

@jan11 Yes Jan, it's become a daily chore. Today he has won. We can not find him but he'll often call out and give himself away.
