These little cuties can disappear in an instant when Mum gives her danger call. This morning I looked out and Mum had her head tilted on the side looking into the sky and not a chick could be seen. Then she gave a different call and to my astonishment five little chicks miraculously rose up from the mown lawn. They'd had nowhere to run apparently and just flattened themselves on the ground with wings splayed out making them totally invisible. Amazing. Sun is emerging now and this rain event has given us 190mm of beautiful rain. Feeling very relieved.
@stevej@http365proj@cejaanderson Thank you for dropping by. I'm very pushed today writing a grant application and haven't time for commenting but will get back to it when this application is safely out of my hands.
Hello Margaret, are these your little turkey chicks? So very clever & cute whatever they are..So thrilled for your rain, we have only had 45mm but we are thrilled and relieved as you must be.
@ellida@cate54 yes Cate, little turkey chick's. I have them housed in the house yard to help them avoid becoming a meal for the crows so I'm learning heaps about turkey behaviour.
