The Golden Penda is native to tropical North Queensland. When in flower it is covered in golden balls of spidery flowers clustered together in spheres at the ends of the branches. The little nectar cups become a natural feeding table for birds and insects. Unfortunately most of the flowers are past their prime today. I had thought that the tree may have been my X word as their botanical name is Xanthostemon chrysanthus but the xanthorrhoea pushed them out so they feature today for Y. Thanks for dropping by. All your visits brighten my day.
Don't the golden pendas look glorious right now? .... Thankfully they flower in the cooler months so those noisy parrots don't start their bickering in the tree outside my bedroom until a reasonable hour!
@ubobohobo Ha - you should know what I'm doing up this early on a Sunday at this time of year .... half way through the Technology marks and thinking what else I can pencil in before reports are due in two week's time! (English is done and dusted and I can finalise the maths marks too - just have to wait on science, history and art and the dreaded "overall" comment).
