Goreng Goreng Elders

Another wonderful weekend of celebration at the Discovery Centre. This weekend the Goreng Goreng people held a family reunion at the Centre. The Boyne River was "discovered and named" by explorer John Oxley in 1823 but the Goreng Goreng had called the valley home for thousands of years before this. The descendants of these people returned his weekend to enjoy the peace and serenity of the valley while enjoying the company of family and friends.
A meaningful photo, Margaret. Australia and the United States share a story of people displaced by those who came later. So pleasant to see these elders coming together in celebration of their home.

it doesn't have an English sounding phrase so I presume it is Aborigine! Very special!

Nice group shot. I've not heard of these people. I'll bet there are a lot of interesting stories connected with them.
