These are my cousin's cattle up safe and sound above the floods. We have all taken our cattle off the river flats. Farmers were caught in 2013 and lost 1000s of cattle to the flood waters when a very similar weather pattern dumped extraordinary amounts of rain on Central Queensland. The Awoonga dam which is filled by the water catchment we live in is already full; the creeks are full and the ground saturated. If the rain comes as forecast there will be no where for the water to go but up.
Great shot of those nice cows and the beautiful country view.
We always do in Autumn and winter. The river need more space for the water so the water floods the sides ( Be diked) witch we named : Uiterwaarden.
Great to hear from you again Margaret. I have been wondering how you are preparing. I think the only redeeming feature of Marcia at the moment is that while it is very intense, it is also quite small and should break up fairly quickly once it makes landfall. Well that's the theory anyway.
Make sure you keep the camera handy :-)
