Egrets on Calf by ubobohobo

Egrets on Calf

The frost has the cows in waiting at the gate trying to convince Kelvin that they need some extra hay. The calves have followed and so have the cattle egrets. As I washed up the breakfast dishes I was entertained by these two flitting from calf to calf. I had to use the zoom lens (the Nikon P600 is great for this) to capture them. They are about 100 yards away from me. To move outside and closer to them would immediately cause them to float off back out into the paddock away from the house.
So the egrets are white? Your life is so different to so many other people but it's great that we can see it from your photographs!

I've never seen egrets with cows. I imagine they are warm and maybe have an occasional insect to eat.

I love your ranching photos. We have cattle egrets that find food in the disturbed dirt the cattle churn up. Interesting partnerships in the animal world.
