I am being entertained at the moment by my clutch of baby chickens. What a noise heralds the new day. They are locked in the cage each night away from hungry carpet snakes and make a deafening cheep until I open the door. Then silence except for the loving cluck of Mum and the warm little clickings made to keep in touch with each other. This morning this charming fellow was perched on top of the cage. Maybe he was waiting for the cheeping to be silenced or was he just after some morsel from the bottom of the cage once the door was opened?
