I really didn't *need* this pretty iron tea pot. I had eyed another and passed on it earlier in the trip, but this was literally my last half-hour in Japan walking around Narita waiting for time to pass until we boarded our flight to come home. Then I thought, "what better time to buy a heavy iron tea pot than right before boarding the plane?," not to mention the added bonus of it being duty free.
I intentionally tried to imagine how a Japanese photographer would have approached capturing its beauty in color and in form. I played with the placement on the mat, POV, DOF, handle position, and cropping before arriving at this.
I love how that teapot has round shapes echoed throughout it -- the dots, the shape of the teapot, the lid, the top of the lid, the roundish spout -- but also how the rounded handle is seen as a stark line here. Nice positioning on the mat with all its lines and weaving.
So how does that お茶 taste? Does the teapot retain heat well?
Awesome POV!! And I'm envious -- what a great green teapot! But the whole image is just stunning -- I could imagine it on the wall in a teahouse or a tea shop.
