For some reason, we've had very few butterflies in our backyard this summer. Lots of other interesting bugs and, of course, the hummingbirds. So when a black swallowtail flitted in to drink from the great blue lobelias, I ran for my camera and was only able to catch one acceptable shot. The sun is a bit harsh, but there is some really nice veining visible because of the way the light is coming through the wings. I love the dusty blue color in the wings. They are very elegant.
