fading beauty

I wanted to paint a sort of homage to my summer garden, looking for something more obviously a faded version of a flower's past glory. There is a huge patch of black-eyed susans and coneflowers in our front garden whose seed heads are black blobs on the end of brown stalks. Playing with focus, I turned it into this portrait of summer past.
gorgeous! looks like a painting!

Really wonderful mix of autumn and summer colors. I like how you have a mix of blooms and seed heads.
