dance with a brush

Extreme angle of a scroll featured a bit ago in my album, this time focusing in the red seal. I studied calligraphy for 3 years when I lived in Japan and love the meditative quality to the practice. I also like the "no turning back" quality to the art form. You can't g back and fix something that didn't turn out quite right, so it's just like a performance, a dance with a brush, unlike much of Western museum art.

I like how the extreme angle really works here to show off the seal, but I also like how you've captured that sense of "fleeting motion" that is captured forever.
