After @jyokota and I climbed Akita Komagatake for about 45 minutes, we came to the 花畑, or "field of flowers." This path lead through a plain near the top of the mountain that holds large swaths of flowers. This mountain is reported to have the greatest array of mountain plants and flowers in northern Japan, somewhere in the range of 100 different species. Though it was pretty early in the season for a lot of flowers, we were able to see quite a wide variety of dainty, complex flora.
