proceed slowly

I decided this week to join a "Get Pushed" challenge and my "pusher," wallflowersvm, asked me to capture a wide-angle, black and white shot with lots of grain and texture. I've been having a tough time understanding "grain and texture," so I'd love forthright comments on whether or not I'm getting there.
@wallflowersvm Here's attempt #1. I'd love your honest feedback. I plan to shot more this week...

@vankrey Not bad at all, my suggestion would be to turn more towards the fence and buildings cutting up so the fence and tree on the left would be the beginning of your photo and the right side would be fence and buildings which would offer a lot in the way of texture and grain. The buildings would offer more of a contrast as well so you can adjust exposure to more of a BW and less grey tones.

I'm working on mine I promise, I'll probably have to wait until the weekend as it's dark when I get up and get off work lol

@wallflowersvm thanks so much for the comments. Very helpful. I know what you mean about lighting, I actually brought my camera to work today so that I could take some short detours after school to shoot. I'll keep looking for texture.

I like the tunnel effect.

This has a nice feel to it. Good use of leading lines. I like the placement of the sign in the frame, and the reflections in the puddles make the shot. Had the road been dry it wouldn't have been as interesting. I like it!
