I never take pictures that are overtly ugly. I don't know how. Yesterday while weeding, I hastily dug at a weed clump only to discover that I perforated this frog's abdomen. Here I decided on b&w to remove some of the "gore" affect. You can see the intestines twisted around the blades of grass near the center. It really disturbed me that I killed this little wonder. I love my frogs. It taught/reminded me how fragile life is and how powerful we can be. All the "if onlys" creep in. I'm documenting this to remind me to treasure life, marvel at how fragile we are at the same time that we are powerful. One decision in a moment can alter life irreparably.
Oh, I'm so sorry to read this. The poor frog, and I know you must have felt awful, given your earlier portraits and comments on your frogs. Thank you for converting to b&w, however!
Is it morbid to fav this I wonder? I'm faving it to remind me of what you had to say and how you have masterfully presented the image as that reminder (the choice of mono was a good one). Oh dear, it really is a sad photo. So faved, relunctantly, but for a good reason. :)
