the stage

One of the thousands of items of designated cultural importance of the temple complex at Chūson-ji was this Noh stage. It is built to the specifications of a traditional Noh theater, and represents a particularly fine example of architecture, artistry, and age. The stylized painting of the pine tree at the back of the stage is present as the backdrop of all Noh theaters, and is said to represent a historic pine at Kasuga Shrine in Nara, the first capital of Japan. The theater is built in a style of Shinto shrines and has a connection to the spirit world, represented by the "bridge" seen stage right leading from that world to the human world as they visit the audience around the stage.
Very interesting
