Live Oak by vernabeth

Live Oak

This tree is well over a hundred years old. There is at least one such tree that is thought to be over 1,500 years old. They are native to the low lying areas of the southern US. The majestic Live Oak is a species often characterized by almost horizontal main branches that can spread into a shade canopy of 100 feet or more in diameter.

Live Oak trees are such large living things. I have a large white oak that I planted years ago but it doesn't sprawl-out like the live oaks. It is a nice photo, Beth.
