Female House Finch

I think this is right because this bird is shaped like the other bird I posted two days ago except of the red which is on the other one. The one with red must have be the male and this is his mate.

very cute pic! A female purple finch would be my guess. A house finch would have slightly less distinct browns.

I would assume by the birds featured in your pictures that you live in the midwest of the USA. I would guess that you are correct in your identification of this and the male in your previous picture. The house finch and purple finch are very similar and I am not good at differentiating between them by sight. We only have the hose finch here (as best I know). (N)
