Yes, @skstein, the other names are: Cucumis metuliferus, horned melon or kiwano, also African horned cucumber or melon. Kiwano is grown in Africa, California, Mississippi, Chile, Australia, New Zealand.

Love all the colors!! I sure hope they peel this before they eat it!! I don't think I would have eaten it either, in fact I know I wouldn't have! LOL LOL Too many warts!! Reminds me of a colorful toad!! LOL LOL Great details and composition!! FAV!

A great colorful capture of this fruit.
I`ve try it once and did n`t like it very much. The taste is a bit like cucumber on the inside color is green with lots of seeds

I bought kiwano, but I did not eat it. Pyrrhula wrote that taste is a bit like cucumber (this fruit is a member of the melon and cucumber family).

Thanks for the comment, @carwyn3! I saw it only once, too. But I read
that it is the only source of water during the dry season in the Kalahari.
