After my last child moved out of the house, people would always ask how it felt to have an empty nest. They assumed I was sad...but for me it was a great feeling knowing that each child had grown and found their place...they were all happy in their lives and isn't that what we raise them up to do?
First, great capture. Second, I agree with you wholeheartedly. We have two big jobs as parents, to protect them when they are young and to prepare them for adulthood. We love to visit our children (36 and 34 years old) and love to have them visit us. But as you say, an empty nest is not so bad.
I know people tell me to slow down and enjoy this time, but that is a time I am looking forward to!

Absolutely, I agree with you! Feels good to know one has raised one's kids to be independent and happy. Their ability to leave the nest is a milestone to be celebrated. A great shot, Vicki!
Great shot and love the lighting Vicki. I agree, too, nothing more satisfying as a parent than knowing you have prepared your children to face life on their own.
