"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
for babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!"
I had these words embroidered and hanging in my kitchen all the years of raising my kids. My son requested it when he was expecting his firstborn. I was so happy to pass it on to him. I then made two more to give to my other two kids.
I had to stop and remind myself of those very words throughout the years as they were growing up...it was hard not to get too focused on keeping up the house, the yard, and any other thing that would take me away from being with them and doing my best at being their mom.
I was reminded again of those words this past 12 days while I had my grandkids here...normally when I have them, we don't keep quite so busy with activities...we did it special this time because the guys were off on their own special trip. We made the most of our time together. One day, while Joshua was busy painting on a craft we were doing, he said "Grandma, we are making memories this week that will last us forever" I almost cried.
So now they are back home and life goes on...and it is TOMORROW... definitely time to clean this house up!!!
