I was really disappointed at first in my photos from here because there were so many people there that day, but the more I look at it now, the more I like it. I think the boys really add to the shot.
The shot would not be the story if it weren't for the boys. I just went to a photo lecture given by a NY Times photographer - lots of emphasis of people in the shots! :-)
@lindag I am discovering that about people in my shots. One that I posted of an arch in ARCHES without people had barely any comments. I posted another with people in it and they were amazed to see the actual size of them. So maybe it is best to leave that postcard untouched view for the postcards, right?
@btorrey This is Punchbowl Falls one of a few falls along the Eagle Creek trail on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge. An easy hike and easily done roundtriip in a day.
@vickisfotos I don't know what you could do differently outside of photoshopping them in from a separate shot where you increased the shutter speed and focused on them. But, I'm guessing others may have a way of doing it. The very act of using the long exposure for the water means any other movement is going to be picked up as well, I'm pretty sure. What you did well in this is by having them there for scale, but so small, our eyes are drawn to the main image of the falls.
@vickisfotos To be honest Vicki I don't like milky waterfalls & I think you have done great here, it looks smooth enough for me & much more realistic....just a perfect shot in my mind!
It really played of nicely with the boys captured in the beautiful sunlight and with no one else in the shot it seems like they are all alone. What an amazing place, so beautiful and well photographed.
