We will probably wait until after Christmas to sample it.
I have always used white icing but couldn’t resist this ready roll golden icing that came with a packet of gold powder. Every now and then it’s good to take the easy option.
I wish I could slip into that picture and sample the cake--after it's cut, of course! I wouldn't dream of spoiling the beautiful effect of the golden icing. It looks like some of that marzipan type that I see--mostly in magazines or baking shows. Have never tried it, but then I don't do a lot of baking and certainly not as elaborate as this Christmas cake!
