This is a King George VI sixpence 1937. It is a tradition for the father of the bride to put a silver sixpence in to the brides shoe to bring luck and prosperity in marriage. This is the sixpence that I wore in my wedding shoe.

Lovely low key shot! I have heard of that, but not something I did - I had quite a superstitious mother & as much as I have debunked a lot of them, there are still a few that feel unable to avoid!
Lovely for your song title. I had a silver sixpence in my shoe and my daughter also had the same one in hers 25 years later.

I've never heard of this tradition at all but I quite like it. The only thing my mum did with a sixpence was to put it in the Christmas pudding and whoever found it made a wish. Lovely photo and thanks for entering the song title challenge - nice to hear Tommy Steele too!
Neat entry to the minimal challenge.
