Aren't these fabulous?! They are related to pinks and are called "catchfly" because they are sticky in the center to trap insects. It's hard to capture the exact color of these beauties, but this picture comes pretty close. They are an amazing scarlet red and the stamens look like tiny sparklers. These were planted in the wildflower garden at the Pittsburgh Zoo, but I think I also saw them growing at Vicki's family's camp a few years ago.
