Today was spent running errands, doing all the things we should have done last week. We like to wait until the last minute to do everything and Getting Ready For School is no exception. Nick bought a pair of pants for 50 cents at the thrift store and he wanted them altered, so this was our first stop . . . they are renovating the shopping center so everything is covered in scaffolding. Apparently they not only repair shoes, they also tailor clothes. The tailor is a little Asian lady whose first comment was "Very skinny boy. Very baggy pants." followed by, "$20. Come back Friday." Of course because we waited too long to start this whole project, Friday was too late. Nick said he needed the pants Thursday morning. To which she replied that he was lucky she was in a good mood . . . "$15. Thursday. 9:00." She is his new best friend.
