Jack and I took a walk at the Occoquan Bay Refuge this afternoon. Lots of goldenrod and thistles blooming now. Saw one line yarrow and a few sweet blue ageratums -- I don't know if those are truly wild or escapees from when the property used to be a farm -- and this little purple gerardia. I love when I can zoom in on something and see things I don't notice with my eyes . . . like the tiny hairs all over the petals and the polka dots inside the tube. Wouldn't this make a good quilt?
