passing notes

I love this note, especially the part about the "fun" trip to Safeway. We had planned a trip to Wegmans to look for local foods but when the bus pulled up every door was blocked by police cars, ambulances and/or fire trucks. So we turned the bus around and drove back to school. I asked the bus driver if we could stop at our little neighborhood Safeway instead. Called the principal to see if we could make an emergency switch in venue. Was told it was ok but we could not get back to school late. As we pulled into the Safeway parking lot the kids were all screaming (in happiness, not the way they usually scream when they have to go to the grocery store). I'm yelling "You have exactly 7 minutes to get in, get the things on your list, and get back on the bus. Don't lose your adult and don't run around like a buffalo stampede." Let me say that you should probably not take 27 kids who have been sitting on a bus for 45 minutes into a tiny Safeway. As we got in line I could barely hear the one cashier frantically calling for back-up over the voices of the children. But hey, we were back on the bus in 7 minutes with most of the groceries and all of the kids. Although now I do have to avoid Marvin's lane when I'm doing my regular grocery shopping . . .
That's one for the books!

what a great story! Seven minutes must be a world record! And I'm sure a nice little gift for Marvin will smooth things over, LOL... Heck, as great a letter as this is, you should have the kids write one to send to the store. Or a little sign. I can see it now: "Seven Minutes in Safeway" Sounds like the title of a great country song.
